Urban Landscapes

The photo above was taken by Thomas L. Ehlers. This photo inspired me to take the photo underneath because i think it is a good representation of "Urban Landscapes". The angle that the photo has been taken from makes the image look longer and stretched out than it actually is. The gloomy day adds effect to the picture because the word "urban" to me sounds negative so the dull atmosphere adds a negative affect and feel to the image.
I like this photo because when i think of Urban i think of cities and graffiti and I think this image captures my idea well, also the graffiti shot in this picture was inspired by Thomas L. Ehlers. His image was a good representation of "Urban Landscapes" because of the use of angle and lighting/time of day that is used within the image. I have tried to portray Thomas L. Ehlers photo but there are differences, instead of taking the photo in dull and dreary setting I've taken it in the morning so that the sun could shine through the bars on the other side to create that patchy effect to emphasize that "Urban" doesn't always mean dull and dreary but bright and beautiful, so the lighting in the photo contrasts both meanings. Also the angling is slightly different to make to photo even more elongated.
I also like these two photos because they also capture my image of 'Urban' and i think the surroundings adds to photo. The dreary over grown dead plants gives the image a run down look, which to me adds affect to the urban atmosphere. Also the dull lighting adds effect to the run down look because it makes the image look lifeless and stale, which to me represents the dull and run down Urban atmosphere. However i think if the image was a closer shot it would look more interesting to look at rather than spaced out and empty.

Movement

This photo above was taken by the photographer Sylvia Rossler. This photo inspired me greatly because the idea of taking a photo of something whilst in motion to me seems incredible. This photo lead me take photos like this one of my own like the ones bellow. The main focal point of this image is the falling water droplet which draws you in to the photo and because the image has been taken at a more close up angle it makes the image look more powerful and interesting to look at. Also the water droplet is sitting on the top horizontal line (Rule of thirds) which also focuses the eyes right to the droplet. Overall i think this photo represents movement very well.
I think this photo is also a good representation of movement due to falling water droplet. Like the photo above by Sylvia Rossler, this photos main focal point is the droplet right in the center. I used the rule of thirds here to line the ripples up right in the center so that it draws attention to it and to also make it look more affective rather than at the top because the main focus of the picture is the ripples, so that is why they are placed in the center. Unlike the picture above the ripples have to be placed in the center rather than the top because that is where the motion is happening.
This photo I like particularly well because if you look carefully you can see directional lines coming from the water droplet as it is in motion . The use of timing and framing adds to the photo because without it I wouldn't of had the directional lines coming from it. However I do not like this photo because of the images in the background, next time i will think clearly about my background and have it black.
I like this photo because it looks as it the water is coming out from the bowl in a swirling motion. I think this photo is relevant for the topic 'Movement'. The main focal point of this image is the "swirling ripple" which is what i was trying to achieve. Also the fact that the picture is lined up in the center of the photo draws the eye directly to it. However once again i do not like this image due to the background, next time i shall use a black background to make the white bowl stand out form the contrasting background.

Texture

This photo was taken by Brian L. Anderson. I like this image because the texture in the photo looks as if you can touch it due to the close up angle it was taken at. Also it is clear that this picture is about rough texture because the image fills the picture. I also like the time of day this picture was taken in because the light that is shining on the tree bark is casting shadows within the cracks creating a contrast in colour as well as texture on the bark. This photo was taken by me and I like this because you can see the close detail within the tyre and can also see the different angle. The close up angle allows you to see the dirt on the tyre and also the crack within it. I like how the light is hitting it because it creates sharp shadows in the cracks and also ands depth to the photo. Also the light creates not just only a light and dark contrast but a clean and dirty one, the light shining on the front of the tyre makes the tyre look shiny, so making it look clean.
I like this photo because it is very textured and i think it is a good example of 'Texture' and represents it well. Also i was inspired by Brian L. Anderson's photo of rough textured bark. I tried to angle the camera to make the image took elongated and more interesting but also to create those sharp shadows that Brian L. Anderson created in his photo. This then creates the light and dark contrast throughout the photo.
I also like this photo because it looks as if the wall is melting. I created this effect by angling the camera at the side to give it more of a dripping affect rather than taking it front on to make it look less effective. As you can see from the image bellow which i took from front on it looks less affective and the light bounces off the wall rather than creating shadows like the image above is doing. So i believe that the image above is a better representation of "texture" Than the photo bellow.

I like these two photos because you can see the texture and detail in it clearly due to the close up shot it has been taken at. The texture in this photo has a grainy and bubbly effect which is also interesting to look at, which is what i like about the photo. I also like the way the light is hitting the photo in that angle because it gives the burnt black a metallically look and also it gives a contrast of light and dark as the light slowly dims as it gets lower down. However i prefer the image above because i think the image works better more close up so you can see the intense detail.

Macro Photography

I like this photo that i have taken because i like the effect of the panels looking elongated and endless. I also like this photo because at a fist glance you wouldn't know what it is or where it was taking, and i like the idea of trying to figure it out. However i do wish i took the photo a bit more closer toward the panel and focused more so that i didn't have the un-focused effect at the front.

I like this photo because i like the way the light is hitting the leaves to give it that glossy look. Also the contrast in dark green and light green allow the berries to stand out and become the main focus of the photography, and because of this you are more focused to look at the detail on the berry. Although i would like the photo much more if the shot was more focused on the berries and only had them in the frame, but on the other hand the leaves in the background does make the photo more interesting because it is more to look at within the photo.

I like this photo because i like the light and dark contrast within the photo and the detail that you wouldn't see if the photo was taken from a distance. The fact that it is a macro shot giveS the image more power and interest rather than if it was taken from a distance. I also like the sharp angles and shadows in the photo which are being made by the twigs and branches and the sharp shadows are made by the angle and intensity of the lighting. This adds even more of a light and dark contrast within the photo to give it more interest.

I like this photo because i like how the light is hitting the bark to make it stand out from the back ground and add sharp shadows within the cracks of the bark to give it more interest and texture. The texture of the tree works well as a macro shot due of the amount of detail on the bark to make it an interesting shot. It is also clear what the main focal point of this photo is because the dark background gives the tree a 3-D effect. I also like that the tree doesn't take up the whole photo makes it more interesting because you can contrast between the focal point and background.

I like this photo because i like how the light hits the tips of the branches to make the image look beautiful and peaceful. I also like how the background is out of focus to make the tree stand out and make it the main focal point of the photo. The angle the photo is taken at is another effect i like, mainly because it is taken on the edge to give it the blurred back ground o make it stand out, rather than just taking a photo tree from straight on. This photo works great as a macro image because the branches are full of detail, texture and colour, which all add to make this photo work as well at it has. However the image would have been better if it was a bit more tighter.

Flash Lighting

I like this photo because i like the different tone in colors and and the way the flash colored filter lights are hitting the image to create a blue shadow.

I like this photo because i like how it is looking down on the object and how it creates a nice shadow on the top of the object. I also like how the red and blue filters have mixed together to create purple in the photo.

I like photo because i like how the the light is highlights the perfume bottle.

I like this photo because i like how the light filters highlight the objects in the image to make it stand out against the black background. I also like how the objects have cast there shadows around the objects because of where i placed the flash lighting.

Experimenting with lens

I took this picture with the 105mm lens.
I took this picture with the fish eye lens. I like using the fish eye lens because i like the effect it gives and makes the image more interesting to look at. I like using this lens on door, corners of building or of a room ( to make it look smaller than it is)
I took this picture with the 55mm lens.
I took this picture with the 18 mm lens.

Aperture and Shutter speed

For these 3 photos i used shutter speed.

For this photo i took 4 of them at different aperture sizes. I took 4 photos one with the f/stop of 3.5 another at 9, then 15, then 22. I have done this with all of my photos continuously.

As you can see the smaller the aperture which is the bigger the f/stop, it is darker because not much light can get. The photo above was taken at 22 f/stop and the photo bellow was taken at 3.5 f/ stops, it is much more brighter than the rest.
